Make a natural, effective antibiotic in your own kitchen

Modern medicine has led to widespread use of antibiotics to fight bacterial infections and there’s no doubt they’re one of the greatest developments in the history of medicine.

But because they’re often over-prescribed and over-used (e.g. for viral infections or in situations where the immune system could handle the infection on its own), the dangerous bacteria around us are getting too many opportunities to evolve. There are more and more antibiotic-resistant strains emerging, including some very scary super-bacteria.

Plus, antibiotics can have some pretty unhealthy side effects, such as destroying our gut flora, the bacteria that allow us to break down and digest food (and apparently also help regulate our immune system). Yikes.

Well, good thing you can make your own cleansing tonic, which works wonders against parasites, viruses, bacterial, and even fungal infections. What’s not to like? No side effects* — and no alarming epidemiological impact either.

*In order to avoid driving off friends and family with the tonic’s very special aroma, you may want to follow treatment with a few gargles of Listerine! Or better yet, get your whole social circle using the tonic too, so you can all smell interesting together.

This mix also stimulates blood circulation, cleaning the blood and boosting lymph fluid production.

You’ll need:

  • 3 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 2 fresh peppers (the hotter, the better!), cleaned and chopped**
  • 1/4 cup chopped ginger
  • 2 tbsp grated horseradish
  • 2 tbsp turmeric powder or 2 turmeric roots, chopped

** Important: Wear disposable gloves and don’t touch your face when handling hot peppers.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Here’s how:

Place all the ingredients except the vinegar into a bowl and mix them well. Then transfer to a Mason jar until 2/3 full with dry ingredients and pour in the vinegar until the jar is full. Place it in a cool, dry place to sit for two weeks, remembering to shake it again several times a day.

After the two weeks have passed, press out the liquid through a fine strainer or cheeseclothinto another clean container, and here you have it, your cleansing health tonic. Dispose of the dry ingredients in your bio-waste or use for cooking.

To get rid of a cold faster and strengthen your immune system at the same time, gargle with one tbsp of the mix every day. Each day increase the amount by a little, so that after 3 or 4 days you’re using a small glass (e.g. whiskey glass-sized). If you find yourself with a bad flu or other stronger infection, try gargling 5 to 6 times a day with one tbsp of the tonic. You might want to have a slice of citrus fruit handy to suck on afterwards as the taste of the tonic is quite strong.

Here are just some of the health benefits:

Garlic is a natural antibiotic, but unlike standard-issue antibiotics from the pharmacy, it only kills the unwanted bacteria. It’s also very effective against fungal infections. Ginger, on the other hand, has powerful anti-inflammatory properties and also stimulates blood circulation. Turmeric is one of the healthiest spices out there: it’s thought to slow the growth of malignant cancer cells and forestall dementia. It also relieves joint pain and works as an anti-inflammatory.

Apple cider vinegar contains pectin, which lowers cholesterol and regulates blood pressure. It’s known to be helpful for losing weight, because it decomposes fat cells making it easier to shed the pounds. And the malic acid in apple cider vinegar is also an effective fighter against fungal and bacterial infections.

If you have an infection, it’s always a good idea to check how serious it is with your doctor — and find out if the tonic is worth a try. Sometimes antibiotics are a simply necessary. But when not, it’s good to have such a potent alternative!
