Seven natural remedies for tackling open pores

When we enter puberty, open or dilated pores become a living nightmare. As dirt and other impurities begin to accumulate in them, your skin is now prone to dreaded blackheads and acne. You may also start suffering from an oily or shiny complexion. Horrific!

To make matters worse, the causes for open pores are not entirely clear. The condition may be due to hormones, the person’s genetics, stress or even environmental factors. But the good news is that you don’t have to resort to drastic methods to get rid of them, as there are a range of natural remedies you can find in your own home. And they work, too!

Of course, skin cleansing and exfoliation treatments are essential for removing dirt. But now you can go that step further in your battle against open pores and try out these seven remedies:

1. Milk serum or whey

Milk serum or whey protein can help close open pores on your skin. Wash your face thoroughly and apply the serum to your face using a cotton pad. Let it sit for 20 minutes and rinse off with warm or cold water. Repeat these steps every night before going to bed.

2. Sage lotion

Sage lotion helps tackle oily skin and close open pores. It also has astringent and antiseptic properties. To make the most of its benefits, you need to prepare a sage solution and apply it to your face using a cotton pad or washcloth.

3. Papaya

It may seem strange, but this fruit really does help close pores. For the best results, first wash your face thoroughly and rub freshly cut papaya on your skin. Let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

4. Clay mask

Here’s a remedy you’re probably more familiar with. Simply add a small amount of water to the white or green clay and apply the mixture to your face using a brush. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Then remove the mask by gently rinsing your face with warm water. Use this method on a weekly basis, but no more than twice a week.

5. Almond powder

If you can’t find almond powder at the supermarket or natural products store, you can make it yourself. Grind a handful of almonds to create a powder. Then add some water and gently apply the mixture to your face. Let it sit for 30 minutes and rinse off the paste using warm water. Repeat these steps two or three times a week.

6. Lemon juice

While lemon juice has a number of benefits for your skin, there are dangers when using it in the sun. This is why you should try the following treatment at night. Use a cotton pad to gently apply the lemon juice to your skin. Leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse using warm water. Be careful not to get any lemon juice in your eyes.

7. Egg white

Make a paste using egg white and a tablespoon of corn starch so that it can be used on your skin. Mix well until there are no lumps and apply an even layer of the paste all over your skin. Let it sit for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water.

That’s certainly good reason to empty your pantry and see which products you already have. Or why not experiment with each method to find out which one works best for your skin! As you can see, there’s no need to resort to expensive cosmetic treatments — you can opt for a more natural and less aggressive way to care for your skin. Give them all a try and say goodbye to open pores!
