She squeezes mustard into a hot bathtub. When she gets in, she breathes a sigh of relief

When most people think of mustard, a sandwich or a hot dog probably comes to mind. But actually, it can be used for so much more! Not only is it a delicious condiment but it’s also great for your health. Read the following instructions and prepare to be amazed! You’ll never see mustard in the same way.

Relax your Muscles

Suffering from cramps? Do you have regular muscle pain? Mustard can work to keep this pain under control. If large muscles are affected, such as the ones in your back or legs, try taking a warm mustard bath. Mix two tablespoons of mustard with two tablespoons of Epsom bath salt and add the mixture to your bathwater. The mustard enhances the effectiveness of the salt and works to relieve painful tension. For smaller areas, you can also create a soothing ointment. Simply mix one part mustard seeds with two parts flour. Now add a bit of water until the mixture becomes creamy. Rub the ointment on the affected area, wrap with a bandage and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Now sit back and relax while the the pain subsides.

Revive your Skin

Mustard makes a great face mask! It contains Vitamin E, antioxidants, as well as other anti-inflammatory properties that invigorate the skin. Spread a thin layer of mustard on your face, avoiding the eye area, and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. If done regularly, your skin will be glowing!

Against Cramps

From now on, you should always have mustard along during long trips and hikes. If you feel your legs starting to cramp, rub a tablespoon of mustard on the affected area. The cramp will quickly pass.

As Hair Conditioner

Mustard oil works wonders for the hair! After using your normal conditioner, massage a handful of mustard oil into your hair. Let the oil soak in for as long as possible, preferably up to eight hours. If you apply the oil overnight, be sure to wear a shower or swimming cap to protect your sheets. The result is shiny, velvety hair that feels as soft as it looks.

For Minor Burns

If you burn yourself while cooking or lighting a candle, first let cold water run over the affected area. Afterwards, rub a bit of mustard on the skin. This not only prevents blistering, but also works to relieve pain. Mustard contains allyl isothiocyanate, which stimulates healing and reduces skin damage.

For a Sore Throat

To alleviate a sore throat, try this recipe. Mix a tablespoon of mustard seeds with the juice of half of a lemon, a tablespoon of salt, and a tablespoon of honey, and boil the ingredients in a cup of water, and then let cool. If you gargle this mixture 2 or 3 times daily, your throat will relax and the inflammation will significantly subside. If your symptoms persist for longer than 3 days, it is always best to see a doctor to rule out any other possible infections.

Relieve Colds

Have mild cold symptoms? Mustard can help! Rub a layer of mustard onto your chest, cover with a warm washcloth, and let the beneficial mustard oils be released. The heat from the washcloth also provides additional relief.

With such fascinating properties, mustard has always been at the top of our list of favorite spices. Now it’s only missing from the medicine cabinet!
