#5 Catching Up On Sleep
Yes it is a good idea to get enough sleep (7-8 hours) to ensure a healthy life. Depriving yourself of sleep can result in increased stress levels which, in addition to many less vain concerns, will see your fat stored and you’ll have a hard time dropping pounds, if you don’t have enough of an issue with it already.
However, this doesn’t mean you can catch up on your quieter days or days off. Many studies have suggested that, if anything, catching up on sleep with say, a 10-11 hour session to make up for a run of 5-6 hour sessions, will actually be worse for you than if you’d simply gone without the “catch up”.
#4 Drinking A Lot Of Water
Sure, if you don’t drink enough water you will find yourself dehydrated and endure the complications that go with it. I mean, if you don’t drink enough water you will die. But there is such a thing as too much water, if you’re always drinking said water from a plastic bottle.
In small doses, it probably won’t be an issue, but if you drink lots and lots of water each day from a plastic bottle, you could run the risk of being affected by known endocrine disrupter BPA. The FDA will tell you that small doses are not a problem, but they also banned it from baby bottles back in 2012.
#3 Diet Soda
This woman is drinking soda, clearly. But many of us look at this image and imagine that she would normally be drinking the diet variety given her apparent slender frame. I mean, soda has a whole bunch of sugar in it and that’s no good for a model appearing in photographs, right?
Well yeah, but that doesn’t mean the diet varieties are any better. In fact, they could even be worse. Many studies have shown that the artificial sweeteners used in drinks with low or no sugar, are very harmful to your health in their own right, and could see you put on just as much weight as if you’d drank the regular version.
#2 Cleaning Your Teeth Straight After Eating
You might have thought you were doing the right thing by leaning your teeth straight after eating. In fact, it may have even been drummed in to you by your parents that you should do such a thing (and don’t forget to floss!).
The truth is a little different, however. Yes, you should brush your teeth often (and floss) but not straight after you’ve eaten. It’s all about the pH level. Most foods you eat will be fairly acidic, which leaves your chompers a little more vulnerable to damage than they might ordinarily be. So, this is the worst time to be brushing your teeth, on account of the fact that the brushing action could actually ruin your tooth enamel.
All you have to do is wait a half hour or so, and then get brushing (and yeah, flossing too).

Especially if you live somewhere like Australia, but also if you live in North America or pretty much anywhere in the world that enjoys a fair amount of summery, sunny days, you’re always told that the Sun is harmful and that you should try to avoid getting burned by it.
While this is true, you should not avoid going out in the Sun altogether. Your skin catching the Sun’s rays are essential in producing vitamin D, which is responsible for calcium absorption, aids bone strength, and reduces the instance of depression, among other things.
Although you should get sunscreen with a strong SPF if you intend on staying in the Sun for any lengthy period of time, you should also allow yourself to get a little bit of unprotected Sun (15 minutes or so is enough) a few times per week.
Note: the same cannot be said for unprotected sex; just unprotected skin where sunlight is concerned.
